The Spirit of Optimism

"Cultivate an attitude of happiness. Cultivate a spirit of optimism. Walk with faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature, in the goodness of those you love, in the testimony which you carry in your heart concerning things divine."

More Information on the Property

This is the hill to the north of the pond.  (The pond will be off to the right)  This is where I will put my new house.  I was plannign on buildign up and out on the one we are in, but it will not be worth it.  There would be too much to do.  So the house we are in will be a guest house.

This is the house we will build there.  And landscape it pretty much the same.  The basement link on their website did not work.  To ck out the basement plan go to link above.

Tthis is looking down from the hill. (Where the house will be)

This is the horse barn.  It took us 2 large trailer loads to remove all the garbage.  Including an old freezer with oats in it...It was a mouse habitat.  There is a pasture fenced to the right.

This is a corral in front of the barn.  I will use this as a warm up arena.

This is left of the barn.  From here to the road I will put a 50' round pen, patience pole and small round pen to train horses.  Up to the left of that electrical pole I will put an outdoor arena.  Behind the barn to the right I will build an indoor arena.  Directly behind it and before the horse pasture we will build Dave's Dojo.

This is outside of the barn (left)  To the right of this is another horse pasture.  We will plant trees next year in this and aroudn the property.  There is a ground well on the otherside of this pasture.  We will see if we can utilize it.  We are also planning on drilling a well as soon as I have researched where there is good water underground.

The garage by the house. It has a concrete floor. It also has a wood burning stove. Dave is excited to have his tools/shop in here. There is also a lot of room to store all our stuff that won't fit in the house. Plus the suburban. Behind it we will fence in more pasture.

Snow Fall

We got about 4 inches last night  - that stayed on the
ground anyway.

The wind is starting to blow it away across the driveway.
We will see how long it last.
Unfortunately it is gone before the kids can sled.  And
there are some really good sledding hills out back.

New Bathroom

Sometimes I find it more expensive to 'fix' something rather than redo the entire thing.  I wish I had just ripped the walls down and put up sheet rock.  I do NOT like wall paper.  But I will deal with what we have here.

Definitely older person oriented.

I ripped up the carpet and the linoleum underneath. Re-stained the cabinets, trim.  Added trim around glass.  Removed lace from mirror.  Re-did wall paper and put down tile.  The bathtub area itself still needs to be completed.  I will tear down the walls around it and put up cement board and tile in the entire bath.  I will also update the faucets to match the one I put in the sink.

I still need to replace the toilet. It leaked and we thought it was just the bolts.  But come to find out the tank itself is cracked.  Fun Stuff.  :-p

New pets

I told the kids that they could each get a pet when we moved in.  Austin wanted a bunny, Jacob a lizard (who has died), Sarah a kitten and mom got a neighbors dog because he would not leave the sheep alone.

This is Buddah - a 9 mo old Dwarf Lionhead

This is Sparkles.

This is Sam.  Almost 2yrs old.  Has tons of energy, and keeps ya busy.  But I love him.

So we now have 3 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats and 1 bunny.  Planning on getting chickens next spring.
